This is Alex Rowe here at E-Tech 2023 here in Bologna Italy for E-Tech Europe. I’m here with Enrico Dada of HB4/EXRO and he’s going to tell us something about his organization over to you Enrico.

Thank you, Alex. So HB4 is an Italian group with a long tradition active in the automotive business with manufacturing of main components like lighting systems, batteries, locking systems, and providing these components and solution to all the main worldwide bike, motorbike, vehicles manufacturers. We are here to present some components that has some specific technical feature and our new capability to propose to our customer powertrain solution

Tell us something more about the powertrain system
[Enrico]
Most of our customers, HB4 customers, are looking for a solution not for individual components and so we can benefit of HB4 capabilities to develop its own components and to integrate these components with a unique solution in the inverter that is the EXRO drives that we call coil drive. Those three components together provide our customers with two main features. First of all to have a solution suitable for their specific application.
We are presenting a powertrain for a vehicle for an Italian manufacturer, Casselini. You can test the vehicle outside and this powertrain is designed specifically for the performance required on the vehicle that is the last mile delivery and with the technology we are providing compared with the traditional powertrain we can expand the torque profile so this powertrain allow for this for example this vehicle to stop and start up on slopes that you can find and but then at the right speed when traveling. Something that in for with the electric powertrain you can achieve but with a bigger electric motor or with a mechanical gearbox. Here we don’t we don’t need that. This powertrain then is built with components manufactured by HB4. The interesting part is that the HB4 group has its own design, research, development, testing, and certification facilities and the capability of HB4 is to have a fast prototyping/prototypization of the motor. That’s very important for our customer because we you can’t use only standard motor available on the market but you have to fit the motor specifically for the application and for the EXRO inverter that has a specific connection with the motor they need a motor to be designed specifically for, or not design, but manufactured specifically for the drive.

Right and how is 2023 been for your company?
[Enrico]
23 was very positive. I will say growing with a lot of new initiatives and orders coming.

What are your expectations for 2024 and Beyond
[Enrico]
Positive, we are always positive; we see a lot we also we see also in this event in the trade fair a lot of interest a lot of components, product, supply. I would say that this trade fair is a good example because is one of the few trade fairs where you see news; where you see new technology news; if you go in other Trade Fair you see what you already know. Here you see something and you see the quantity of initiative and companies so we are very positive
